Thread regarding Cummins Inc. layoffs

I will eat dog sh--, if Cummins lets go anybody on Tom's staff

It is always the market conditions, head winds, tail winds, side winds, cliff events. Oh we did not anticipate the business going down this rapidly! We need to cut costs by 300 million! Well you spent more than that in campaigns fixing quality issues, and the executive directors under whose watch that happened will never be fired. No VP or executive is ever held accountable for not meeting numbers.

And what's with prioritizing continued investments in capital and R&D during the downturn, over retaining your experienced workforce? I can understand the 3's leaving, but if solid performers are let go, it sends such a horrible message that cimoany cares more about investing millions in some VPI program over investing in your people.

Inbred nepotism and family relationships is what drives Cummins leadership not skills and talent and performance. If you don't believe me, look at Dana Vogt and his multigenerational Cummins legacy family

Totally agree. They do not value the high performing loyal employees that are NOT on Tom's staff. They take credit for the work the others do and then throw them to the curb when the next round of layoffs come. Linebarger is awful and so is the majority of leadership. They get rid of the ones that try to challenge the status quo or refuse to drink from the Columbus, IN Kool-Aid. They invest too much in their foreign workforce with visas to create "diversity", and at a lower paycheck than the hardworking Americans.

Maybe they need to take half the people out of the office at the factories, they have imaginary jobs and fat pay checks

here is a thought instead of cutting work force how about Tom Linebarger take a pay cut, he is paid upwards of $12,000,000.00 he wont miss a few million hell maybe he can learn to live like the rest of us working stiffs, the company itself is a joke force feed you safety c-ap then turn around and have you do things that are not safe, they waste millions every week in parts filling land fills I could go on about this pathetic company

Further, what is the investor seeing here? Since the miss in quarterly earnings, the stock is at all-time highs. What we are being fed internally is not matching public perception.

This will never change. Meanwhile, they'll pat themselves in the back over these capital projects. Gotta plow forward with that new building between Indy and Columbus! Gobs of money in diversity/inclusion initiatives, 100 year spending spree, bloated HR Dept, etc etc.

I totally agree, I wouldn't be shocked if they made this decision before the summer and was just waiting on when to tell the employees. I also see in my dept. managers of managers who really do nothing except as you said keep their head down and/or try to blame their subordinate when their boss sees that things didn't get made right. I feel sorry for Cummins for this one thing, sooner or later they are going to get a CEO or president that be one of those type that hate having to many directors or managers and we will see them trying to find a way to justify their job.

This title made me laugh. You would certainly think they would consider reducing the amount of directors and managers of managers within Cummins, I believe it is a problem globally that is not well recognised. I have been at Cummins for 20 plus years and often wonder when I see some managers in critical positions with plenty of opportunities just show up collect a pay and keep their head down. I think they need to take a good hard look at what the directors and high level managers are actually achieving. A lot of managers are just riding along with good employees who miss most of the credit...

Cummins communication on this has been pathetic. Clearly these decisions were made some time ago, you don't drop 2000 professional staff and later on work out your restructuring
