Thread regarding Dean Foods Co. layoffs

Why isn't everybody already looking for a new job?

The only reason you should still be here is because you haven't been able to find a new job yet. That's it. Things here will go from bad to worse really quickly. Why would anybody want to still be here to witness that firsthand?

First chance I get, I'm out of this place, no looking back.

If I was manager at that 20’s guy. He would be the first one I would fire. His attitude screams lazy and wants the easy jobs.

To the guy in his 20’s. I’m a former employee of over 10 years at Deans and I’m telling you from experience. Once you train a new guy. Most likely a TEMP. Management will find a way to break you down and find a way to get you out the door so they can pay that temp cheaper wages and eliminate benefit cost.

It does not matter how young you are or seniority. Just warning you now.

Go work at Deans LeMars. Brian Bruns told some of us nothing to worry about here. Deans is going nowhere.

Well I would probably take a pay cut going to another job so I want to make as much as I can right now and bank it.

Now glad I was laid off in May, after 15 years at Dean. Wasn’t happy then, but now I know I was lucky. Was paid severance and now have a new job in a completely different field. I wish all my friends still stuck at Dean well. Corporate ran us into the ground. Life after Dean is much better, believe me...and it will be for you too.

ROFL... Days of Dean Foods closing a plant and giving workers losing their jobs severance are over. Bankrupt companies only give severance to executives.

Severance of some sort and unemployment, why on earth would you jump to a new job to be a new miserable worker when you can just burn with the ship and see what happens.

Looking...gets a bit tougher when you're over 50. Despite what companies claim, age discrimination is alive and well. Only reason been around as long as I have was due to pension, but payments to that are going to stop as soon as there's a sale no matter what the union says.
