Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

This post will either generate some hate or a debate. I have been with TD for a while. Not dinosaur while but a while. The last few years I have had decent productivity: brought in 2x-3x of my cost to the company ( measured by billable hours and presale deals). This year I could drive an Uber and still do my work. I blame that on reorgs and lack of decent leadership and lack of focus on our core values. We have done a great job following and a terrible job leading. Grade F for that. So I have been reading a lot of negative comments about the Company, VL, OR and the lay-off. When I look around and go to Workday the people I’ve been working for years are still there: really good and the really bad ones. So TD clearly is following LIFO. Possibly some discretionary decision making around who has not been pulling their weight this year. Which resources are redundant( work overlap), very high salaried and voluntary packages for those close to retirement.
So, if I was not laid off and I have NOT been very productive this year, were the people that were laid off even less productive than me? I called a very senior technical SA a few months ago at 2pm and this is what I got: “The Uber driver you are trying to reach is currently unavailable, please try your call again later”. Last year I picked up a local newspaper and one of the Presales SA I recognize was ranked 5th for the month with Sotheby’s. Both were part of the last RIF(not recent). I know that some people that were part of the RIF were competent and productive and did not deserve it. But I know some are upset about not having their cake and eating it too.
