If actual diligence is done, HP will discover that in a mere few years Carl Icahn and his cronies (many former HP) have taken Xerox to a position where the only survival pathway is a merger. Without it, Xerox dies.

A deal will happen, bet on it. Whether it will be Xerox buying HP, or HP buying Xerox, who knows at this point. But a deal WILL happen.
And when it does BOTH companies will lay off thousands of employees.
i used to be w/ xerox, now HCL. IF HP accepts a xerox deal at some point i feel sorry for you guys. get those resume polished up, regardless.
Maybe so, but with the right deal HP will do it. It's not about if but how much.
