Morale is at its lowest at this company and everybody knows it. Can people even function at work in this kind of atmosphere? I certainly can’t function normally and, to tell you the truth, I have a hard time focusing on task that i did routinely. The same is with my coworkers. If this type of atmosphere has the same effect on the employees company wide, I believe it does, we're in for some big trouble.

Yeah, lot of HR bs being spouted. There is no way in hades you got five weeks per year.
Better than when they took everyone out of the building in Bakersfield and announced who could go back in.
Yes!
Holy smokes! That’s a huge severance package for anyone with more than a few years of service. Were you Legacy Oxy? If so, I’m insanely jealous.
I got 5 weeks per year plus two months notice pay plus vacation balance plus vested stocks plus bonus if there is one.cant be more happy. Thank you Oxy and Vicki. We are so fortunate to be in Oil and Gas.
What was the layoff package? I would imagine it's as good as the voluntary package.
I also agree that OXY has handled layoffs much better than any other place I have worked. Also know for a fact that most of those laid off in Denver (Colorado) had their hand-up... wanted to be let go. OXY was good enough to extend them the COC even tho they didn’t qualify based on the parameters of the COC. They didn’t have to do that.
Say what you want about how Vicki handled the acquisition, but I have no doubt she cares about the staff more than any CEO I have personally worked for. She understands that lingering rumors and fears about layoffs are bad for morale. They have handled this as well as possible so far. Inform people of what’s going on, do it quickly, then inform people as soon as it’s over. It s—s that people have to lose their jobs, but this is the best way to handle it. Weeks of rumors and speculation are bad for the company and horrible for the staff. The rumor I have heard is that she was originally presented a plan for layoffs in December and she rejected it because the cuts were too drastic and it wasn’t well planned. I’m so sorry to those who are getting let go, but I’m glad they ripped off the band aid quickly. Good luck to everyone who is still going through this today.
Unfortunately, those that feel the brunt of blindly-throw-darts-at-the-wall-for-strategy management, arent those that make the poor decisions themselves.
I appreciate the way Oxy has handled this compared to past companies I have worked at. They told us what was happening, did it quickly, and my management addressed the elephant in the room this afternoon. Most companies drag it out and then ignore everyone's fear. Keep your head down and do a good job that's all we can do.
Don't let the door hit you - you won't be missed.
Just put your head down and work hard...that's all you can do. You're not paid to sit around and worry!
Quite a few people in the Denver City office are gone and I’ve heard of one in Seminole.
Just got laid off!
If you’re bothered by layoffs you had better get out of this industry. You are mostly likely going to be laid off numerous times in the oil and gas business.
The legacy APC layoffs in 2016 were worse. 6+ weeks of knowing mass layoffs were coming but not knowing when.
You’re not alone....
Yeah it’s a distraction, but only for 4 more days. I think the company will survive. Good luck this week.
