Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

It's amazing how many people will never learn...

Money talks. Xerox got the needed funding to acquire HP. History tells that shareholders' more than welcome this kind of short term gain for them, so it's now just a matter of time. Any move on HP side to block it will be driven solely for seeking the survival of the top layers. They don't give a — — about the Company technical roadmap, legacy, etc. Enrique and his VPs will execute whatever strategy works best for them as it relates to their individual termination/exit packages.

Needless to say there will be tons of layoffs a few months after the acquisition is done. To be very honest, I'm surprised it took so long for HP to be months away of disappearing. History will repeat itself once again. A lot of employees will take a 'wait & see' approach, so the ones that leave now (or are terminated first) will have an advantage on getting new jobs with better terms before thousands get forced to go out and then the market dictates the big pay cut they are going to get by being late to the job market game. It's amazing how many people will never learn...

Xerox never got close to getting the needed funding to purchase HP, they only got $24B when they should have gotten $37B+. The problem was that they (Xerox) was offering stocks as part of the deal and that did not go over well at all. The offer was only $17 a share and not $22+. That was why HP said that the offer was undervaluing HP.

I work for Xerox and they destroyed one of their most successful divisions, Global Imaging Systems, we were 39 independent cores thriving, we are now decimated, all of our jobs outsourced to Guatemala, India and Manilla

Use the HP brand value to make your resume work for you. I work for Xerox and I can assure you we are imploding. Equipment and supplies are treated like Kodak film. HP legacy products, printing and pc, can be labeled Kodak film as well. No one believes any of it will be a around in 3 to 5 years. The focus is on creating new technology and service products, but no one has seen anything to be excited about on the horizon.
Two things are certain. Shareholders will be rewarded. Employees will be outsourced.
If you don't believe me, go the the Xerox page on this site and look at your future.

You're fooling yourself to believe HP is going away when's the last time you saw a Xerox pc? The brand has value.
