Tampa Call Center Closing

It has been determined that the call center in Tampa and another undisclosed location will be closing at the end of the first quarter. There will be a Town hall meeting on 1/7 to announce this decision. This was originally reported by Manbun Quarterly back on 12/20. More details to follow.

Has anyone heard the exact date they are closing the Tampa center. I’m just trying to plan.

4 calls and 2 hrs to fix a routine issue? That’s pretty good to be honest.

I don't know if it's good or bad. From a customer perspective, it took 4 phone calls and almost two hours to fix a voice mail issue yesterday. At least 3 of those calls reached an HBA based on all the noise and music in the background. One had the personality of a snail. No idea if these were Frontier employees or 3rd party. But it was disgusting. And shameful. I'd dump the landline completely if I could.

When will we find out about buyout packages? Will we still get them when Frontier declares bankruptcy?

The coaches in Tampa know the center is closing. I heard a coach in the restroom trying to get an assistant manager position at Checkers. He didn’t get the job because of his criminal record, but the point is that he is trying to jump ship. Everyone knows Tampa center is sinking fast.

He's just riding the wave to bankruptcy, drooling over the amount of money his "other company", M-III Partners, is gonna make us in consulting fees. His position here should be a conflict of interests IMHO

So if Tampa is toast, why even bother having a town hall at all? Why go the trouble?

Bernie seems more interested in his own personal interests than the interests of Frontier. He didn’t even know that Florida was working without a contract. He was disinterested during the town hall and yawned on several occasions.

I was there as well today. To anyone who listened very very carefully he let everyone know that Tampa is toast. When asked about the lack of a contract for FL workers going on 6 months now he actually (and with a straight face) claimed he didn’t know anything about that (and that if he actually did know he wouldn’t be able to discuss it anyway). Then had some minion from HR give a nice little lie to everyone in attendance because when he asked anyone in senior leadership to give input they had nothing to say either. At least he didn’t sugar coat it for those who were smart enough to listen closely.

I had my town hall meeting with Bernie. He didn’t come right and say that he was closing the center but he implied it. The writing is in the wall. Tampa is doomed.

Open supervisor positions? You would get more applicants if you lowered the minimum qualifications. Why are you requiring a high school diploma? It’s like you are intentionally eliminating people on purpose. Smh

Don’t fuel the fire? Last I checked they keep centers open that actually HAVE contracts. If management and union (one in the same when it comes to FL) doesn’t want rumors to run wild then how about you both do your jobs and hammer out a deal! It’s been six months. Enough already. Step up and get it done. Quit being yes-men and grow a pair. Also it might help if most of management wasn’t actively looking for another job and being open about it......”hey guys I confirmed you can make twenty grand working at Spectrum!”.... as overheard recently.

If they close the center tomorrow after the town hall, do they give us the buyout check immediately or do we have to wait for them to give it? I’m so nervous that I don’t Think I can sleep tonite

I just went in my coach’s office to ask if this closing was true and she was on LinkedIn. What does that tell you?

People stop fueling the fire here please, this doesnt help any of us. The Town Hall was done in 4 other locations already! Ours is tomorrow, and all these folks are just trying to create noise we don't need! The Town Hall is with every rep, scheduled already for both buildings! They dont layoff centers in a group announcements! Also, we have 3 reqs open for vacant supervisors that all of you can see posted! Centers that are closing dont replace vacant supervisors! We have already offered some new folks positions! These are all lies, trying to continue to create distractions in the business.

Does anyone know how big the package they will give us when they close Tampa?

I believe it. I am a former coach at Frontier. It has gotten so bad that no one even applies to vacant coaching positions anymore. Everyone knows that the fat lady is about to sing.

I am a former Ecenter rep that was forced into sales. Every night my husband has to cheer me up because of the unethical activity that I am forced to do every day. I only have 5 years until I can retire. Frontier expects its reps to sell on every call....every call. We can’t even help the customers anymore without the risk of disciplinary action.

I’m confused by reading these comments. Is Bernie having a town hall to close a center or to sign a new labor agreement?

What functions? None. There are 140 former Ecenter reps taking calls that are basically useless. They kicked and scream when they had to go back on the phones and they are sabotaging the centers sales numbers. They could be easily replaced with non-union employees and save the company a ton of money. The only chance Tampa has to remain open is to clear them all out.

Why Tampa? Close DeLand. We fix all of their problems. They want to close Tampa because we make more money than the people in DeLand. This is just plain wrong.

This can’t be farthest from the truth. I am a Union steward and can tell you that Bernie is a part of IBEW’s contract negotiations in Florida. Bernie knows that the only chance that Frontier has of staying in business is with a strong union. As long as everyone keeps paying their union dues, IBEW will continue to dominate! We are the union!!

This isnt true, and people like always trying to stir things up. New year and a fresh start! Dont let it be ruined by people trying to harm you. There have been several Town Halls already! Not one announcement of closing a location! Also, the Townhall is for both buildings, we wouldnt be told of a center closing in front of other employees! Do not let these lies mess with you.

At the Union Halls meeting last night it was discussed that upper management wants to meet and talk about the contract this month. Once again this sounds like a disgruntled or fired employee just trying to stir the pot. Bernie has already met at several centers for Town Hall meetings.
