EHR article - Death by a thousand clicks

Great article about how the legislation to fund the creation of the EHR in the 90's resulted in the buggy implementations of it that we see today. Some of which have resulted in lawsuits against the companies responsible for creating the software.

Blame it on Obama hype. Going the way of the dinosaurs and the 90’s real estate investment bubble.

The US government shells out money and doesn't force standardization of the EHR format - allowing companies to create their own proprietary versions. Thus eliminating interoperability between different vendor's EHR systems - which was why the EHR was invented. Disgraceful oversight by the US government. Made things worse instead of better and wasted taxpayers dollars in the process.

You get what you pay for. Hire a bunch of hackers form India that has no idea how the systems should work and you will have a system that you need to click everything just to set a simple field.
