I was told that it was against HR policy to do layoffs after 12/1 because it was 'bad optics.' Then they laid me off on 12/2. Greed trumps policy every time.
Welcome to Corporate America.
Actually, November - January is probably the best where UHG Optum could take the biggest accrued bonus, 401k vesting and match from the employee! So from their perspective, their timing couldn't be any better to get the most from the employee! From below thread, it looks like this timing and practice has gone on for years. Its just now its happened to you. Think how the others before you felt?
They should have did the layoffs before Thanksgiving obviously! So these layed off folks will not find a new job until after New Years!
The warning signs have been there for some time with supervisors and management covering up the corporate game plan and feeding us a line of BS. Not looking your subordinates in the eye was a major clue. It doesn't make this nonsense any easier though. Peace.
These bloodsuckers have no religion, cold blooded! Only thing they will understand is no reaction, no regrets. They have damaged you and your family already.
I mean, was there really no better time to do this???
