Can someone explain to me how the company can claim they are eliminating an entire Dept, but come to find out, work is being transferred to workers in another state. Why would you lay off people who know the job, for people who have to be trained for the job? And this is in the US, not oversees.
I don't get it, it's a bad move for the company. Wonder who signs off on these decisions.

One reason and no other
Money what ever is cheapest for them and makes them the most money
Join the rest of us who got chopped and farmed out overseas
Could be multiple reasons - real estate consolidation, other state deals they are trying to pursue, cost of labor, etc. Hard to say without more details around what department and states involved.
So they lay your team off then move staff from a different state to manage your work load. Who is going to manage the work load they leave behind? None of this makes sense
Im sure the cost of living is cheaper in the other state, which means lower salaries they have to pay..
