Thread regarding Williams Cos. layoffs

Wild Goose Chase

It occurred to me that Williams is on a wild goose chase for talent in Tulsa and Houston. With the major shale shake out in the Northeast they should be building up theirs offices in the Northeast where the talent pool is, who wants to love to Tulsa. I know it was considered to manage projects country wide before 2016, but was not carried out. So many advantages of utilizing your existing workforce as opposed to firing them, will not bore you with the details any more. This talent aquisition team is truly on a wild goose chase. Lol

I am seeing many of the jobs in my department being moved overseas to Wipro. I don't think they are looking for talent so much as penny on the dollar contractors.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein.
I wonder what Albert would think of Williams corporate genius’s tactics?

Certainly true. 2016 Fiasco was a complete failure in a ludicrous and humiliating way. Great loss of incredibly talented employees who suffered because they were 45+ and earned a duly high compensation. What a waste . After years of service they were sadly rewarded with a kick in pants and job loss.

I think the bean counters will show you they are saving costs by terminating people. I do believe that you can show this on paper that these terminations make sense, and unfortunately that is what is happening. I just don’t believe it though because many of the intangibles that do not show up on paper. Anyhow good luck 🍀 to you.

Don’t get me wrong, Williams should also be looking for new talent to replace people that quit, lousy performers and people that retire. However imo that isn’t what is happening, they are having forced firings, due to poor planning, just my opinion. Every time they have a large layoff it distorts moral, creates unwanted competition by losing trained and skilled employees to the competition and runs up costs due to costs of seperations and rehiring. This doesn’t even adress the ethical dilemma of treating employees like they are disposal commodities, is that really consistent with their core values. I have no way to prove what I M saying is correct, one indicator may be the poor performance of the stock and the inability of the company to diversify into other markets, they just aren’t a darling of Wall Street because they are only a run of the mill pipeline company with no new products or technologies for rapid growth. Oh well
