Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Don't be naive and think this will not result in layoffs

Boeing said it will try to keep employees working on 737 Max busy with other projects - the key word being TRY.

I'm betting you that if the decision is not reversed within a month or two at the most, they'll be done with keeping us busy and start showing us the door.

Don't convince yourself you are safe and then be shocked when you receive the pink slip when it was obvious it was coming.

Maria Cantwell supported legislation to take away oversight from the FAA and allow Boeing to have more control.
Of course she was “grilling” Dennis.
She has to hide her purse, with her lobby money in it; and try to get out in front.

I don’t know what sort of id–t thinks because they’ve been there two years, they will get max benefit amount when laid off.
The state of WA did make a deal with Boeing in 2013, over lay-off benefits. But it was not the amount of the check. It was for the duration you could park your a– on unemployment, education benefits etc.
so several people took the accelerated layoff, so they could “get paid” to go to school for two years.
Now that the economy as a whole is doing much better, benefit duration is only 6mo.

Per IAM contract, Boeing can only furlough for two weeks. After that, standard RIF process comes into play.

My personal prediction is Boeing May utilize the two week furlough after the New Year. Then hand out 60 day WARNs. That buys a couple of months to either make significant progress, working with regulators, or for sh– to really hit the fan. Just because you receive a WARN, doesn’t mean you will be laid off for sure. All the way up to the EOB of the last day, they can recall, cancel, or let it expire. Plenty of people where have been on their last day, just to either be provided with a job offer/reclassification, or their notice pulled.
Just keep clocking in until they tell you not to, don’t make large purchases, and pay off what debt you can.

At @12BDqU5b-1efm

A QA lead told me that when he was on unemployment and was just there just 2 years that he received the Max benifits as far as dollar amount. I questioned him about that and he said that was a union made deal with the state. There are a lot of weird things such as L and I and how Boeing can hire Sedgwick to deny your L and I claim and it is perfectly legal to be denied by a third party bought and paid off by Boeing and to be upheld by WA State L and I so nothing weird or odd surprises me anymore.

VLO's. Can Boeing afford them?
Can't save them that much money.
There are so many 55+ year olds.
Why would they offer VLO's rather than just waiting for the to retire?

The Bombastic Baboonery spilling from the Board of Directors is why
One communications director retired and another resigned.
The amount of compensation needed for an individual to sell their soul
Is in the Millions, as Dennis Muilenburg’s pay went from 13 million to 27 million
In 2019, this is the apparent cost of a soul, prices may vary per individual.
Be sure of this, each has their price, Congress tho, is far cheaper than any CEO

The FAA had to bring the Bully Being to Bay
As the next to face the wrath of human decency would be the Congress.
This they could not allow as Congress lies, steels and mur_ders in the shadows.
When the actions of the Criminal Corporatocracy is revealed to those of decency,
The chorus of humanity Shames So it strikes fear in their heart but not their soul.

These Prince among men, Congress, only fear being revealed for what they are
Monsters acting as shepherds. They skim from the Criminal Corporatocracy
But keep their distance so as to not soil their robes. Its adoration they seek
More than gold, vanity and appearance is their disguise weaseling for their wealth
And power is their nature, k_illing from behind in the dark, not in the open is their
Way. This is the only reason the Monster Bully Being to Brought to Bay

Over one million people count on Boeing for their pay, that’s food on their table
And a home to raise their children, Boeing was once run as if one of us.
One Boeing was a slogan devised by the retired communications director.
It was to bring us together to show us as one.
Clearly There are many in the offices of power at Boeing and beyond
They are not one of us; they are not of the chorus of humanity

Settle Down

@ozw AIG was bailed out by a Republican administration if you recall and to stabilize the FINANCIAL system, the heart of our nations economy. Boeing is a manufacturing company, and therefore it is not same TBTF situation. Yes it is a major national employer and would impact gdp but American manufacturing and military is considered discretionary to most and essential only to some Republicans (currently in WH.) some of the candidates, would be just as happy to see this greedy company die and limit assistance to military sector. If you want to see how much Democrat’s truly care about Boeing your jobs and maintaining the company’s stability and representation go watch Maria Cantwell grill Dennis at the hearings. Vote for the ones who will fight to keepr your cushy manufacturing livelihood people.

Question:
Rumor is that if we get laid off we get max unemployment benefit. One could only wish this true since we all have bills and not everyone of us have been at the company for 6 years to accumulate a paycheck that would be max benefit.
So is this rumor true or untrue that if we are laid off the deal is max unemployment rate of pay?

{Don’t be so quick to expect a total bailout} @qvd
Think 2008; Boeing Is AIG: Find out what AIG is.
Then I'll listen to informed speculation

{They will then relocate}@dqq (That’s a plausible Idea)

I think boeing will try and hang on till the 747 is done. They will then relocate whats left of the 737 to Everett and then sell the renton property to help ease the huge losses incurred by the 737 disaster.

Boeing may not be laying off workers, but after the New Year, you can bet hundreds of suppliers will be.

Who brought up bailouts on this post. I haven’t heard of anyone saying that but they did at the congressional hearings allude to a bailout for this catastrophe.

Don’t be so quick to expect a total bailout of Boeing. Maybe on the military side but unless you have a champion for American manufacturing/working middle class in the WH, commercial will be allowed to wither. Also even with government assistance there would be job losses and pension reductions. Obviously commercial will never completely go away but our current compensation and benefits is too cushy to last long in this business environment.

My gut says it will spill into several other business units. The profit from the max fed other areas. This is serious and united just extended there max return to June at the earliest. How much debt can be incurred is the big question. Debt rating fell by Moody this week. Sad times and stress is ahead.

The question is, will the layoff be limited to Renton factory? Young AND old in Renton factory? Will the layoffs spill to other areas of the company? If Dennis is sacrificed who will protect the vulnerable nonunion and younger union workers? Chicken dinner poster is a dumb–s no one cannot predict how deep is this financial contagion at Boeing and how deep these cuts will go.

Who cares people are desperate and if they need to believe no layoffs let them. It’s way too overwhelming a thought that the B company is failing apart but by bit.
