What H1B, I thought Trump was bringing all the jobs back to America. You are telling me that corporate America still has a way to loophole US employment by hiring India through specialized task requiring specialized skill that can't be found in U.S. The other thing is Corporate lays them off and then rehires to lower wages. Got to love it corporate's way to cost saving to boost stock prices.
Ahhh yes, the ever necessary Movie Watching Dude (MWD). Fantastic career prospects, exciting working conditions. A job that is not at any risk of technological obsolesce. Apply Today!
Step 1: Find someone in India that has the "same" skillset as current employee. Hire them to work remotely.
Step 2: Post a public job description outlining those skills PLUS some outdated/useless skill combo specific to that candidate (e.g. can lick elbow while washing the sacred sack under a full moon and do some o&g related work)
Step 3: Layoff US employee, apply for work visa while H1B is in process.
Step 4: Profit
They know exactly what they are doing.
Halliburton doesn't know what they are doing obviously.
Maybe they cut wages and more people quit than anticipated. Or they will hire you for half the pay...
Why would they be hiring the same positions they just layer off?
