I received an email that my VSP was approved last Friday, but now I am hearing that emails were sent "out of order" and that I should have received an offer for a position at WES before the "VSP approved" email.
I was on the fence about staying on with WES, but this has reassured me that leaving is the smart thing to do.
No offense, but this has become a total $hitshow

I am not clear on the problem. The VSP will have an exit date this year, by December 12th. One could wait for 45 days or so to sign and accept severance package while in meantime raise the issue with whoever is expected to provide the job offer that the clock is ticking OR sign and walk.
By the end of the wait period and after you enjoy Christmas, one can then decide to either rescind the VSP in hopes of the verbal offer becoming real or sign release document afterwards since there is no concrete offer.

OP nailed it. Yet another example of the company wide incompetence and intelligence level that is the typical Oxy employee. That guy who keeps posting the list has another one to add.
You either received an offer or you didn’t not that hard to fathom. If the VSP is the only thing in your hand it just becomes an intelligence test the world as you knew no longer exists as Production is be decoupled from the infrastructure building team known as WES. Sad to say they not going to be sharing with their pipe building brethren going forward. WES is going lean no room for the indecisive.
