PPG is the worst run company on the world and Michael McGarry should be fired.
One division 20 percent pay cuts off 1 day a week i suspect layoffs are next covered under restructuring.
Salaried reductions June 1st in Oak Creek, multiple victims
PPG Aerospace in Huntsville , Alabama has just had a reduction in force. Since there are more planes grounded than flying, I'm out of a job.
Voluntary layoffs, voluntary separation packages,no work. Dead at the Oak Creek,Wi plant
Terrible place to work. Dead rats everywhere, mold all over the store, 60 hour weeks paid for 40. SGM tells me I’m worthless! Best employee ever works for 10 years with no pay raise. Unbelievable! No lunch breaks, work in store alone for 10 hours. How can you even go to bathroom!
Terrible management.
Work anywhere but PPG!
Earlier this week PPG’s president sent a video to all employees that was well written and well spoken in an effort to soften the blow of what is to come in which they are currently in planning to implement regarding pay cuts and potential layoffs, etc. What will this organizations president and all the highly paid top management across the globe give up to come to the aid of their employees? To the aid of all human life globally during this crisis. President alone made 15.1 million in 2019. When will employees stop being referred to as essential and non essential. ALL EMPLOYEES ARE ESSENTIAL! CARE FOR THEM GLOBALLY AND DON’T FORGET THE MOST VULNERABLE STAFF AND THEIR FAMILIES. Why isn’t the company opening up their plants to convert to manufacturing essential coating products for clean rooms in hospitals, Medical Equipment, coatings, automotive and marine coatings that are antimicrobial, donating the hoarded stockpiles of PPE, utilize your multi million dollar r&d centers and ask the governments around the globe what your brilliant scientists can do to help during this crisis....then again, as far as converting plants to make products the world needs probably is not an option. If OSHA would show up at any plant unannounced they would probably end up shutting them down. The plant conditions are not up to code. Simple running water at proper temperatures, broken toilets in bathrooms, burst pipes in ceilings leaking and molding through tiles, contaminated drums and more. Not to mention the front line plant workers putting their own health at risk to ensure others get a paycheck......HOWEVER, the chemicals division I understand is manufacturing coatings for ventilators. BRAVO to them but let’s hope PPG doesn’t price gouge and makes a significant contribution to help save lives. Do what’s right. The economy will come back globally. Don’t be selfish with those who make great sacrifices for a company they trust to take care of them.
I work ar ppg in shildon uk, and have been there for 10 yr plus. I can honestly say the it is a horrible place, they treat workers really badly, yet try to come over as a caring company! The place is so corrupt ran by incompetent managers who are bullies!! I’m praying I get made redundant 🙏🏻
It’s happening contingent upon which division you have the privilege to work for. Some are truly great and the staff are treated with respect. But if your in one that isn’t... be on your guard if still employed. True comment that layoffs are carefully and CLEVERLY masked utilizing various methods such as hours reduced, low performance ratings, no raises, playing with bonuses and not paying out what was agreed to, upper management CLEVER verbal harassment, bullying and belittling, no training for new hires, little guidance how to maneuver through company to support the customer base, impossible workloads, people forced to work weekends and even told which weekend they can have off, people assigned projects that can’t be accomplished by required dates, even vacations requests denied) to “legally” transition you out of the company or make it so bad you leave on your own. Financial numbers and incredible loss of market share tells all. When the board tried to oust the current president and CEO they were on the right track. Bring back Chuck Bunch. Hire true industry leaders who know the business, not promote unknowledgeable employees to run divisions they know nothing about. Quit taking care of all the “chiefs” and start focusing on the the ants who carry the load and actually believe in the company and truly care for their customers.
Can't sell so they are trying to cut expenses to improve the bottom line. It won't work. We need sales and that means we need support and leaders that fight for the field, LISTEN to the field and get things done for the field. Ever try to hire someone at PPG? It is a nightmare. Takes months. S-W gets this done in 2 days!
PPG IS MASKING A FORCE REDUCTION BY CUTTING PEOPLES HOURS AND TRYING TONFORCEBTHEM TO QUIT. THEY ARE DOING THIS EVEN IN PROFITABLE STORES. I dont understand why?
Let's hope! Lots of good people in the field need some support
Things will be better in 2020. I think.
Agree that they already started. More coming.
I think they already started. Why wait til 2020 when you can cut dead weight now!
