I'm just wondering, will working at SAP forever be this stressful or is there a chance we will go back to good old times at some point when I didn't have to worry every single day if we'll be looking at more layoffs by the end of the week or month?
Because that would be really, really nice. I'm just getting more and more worried that it's just a pipe dream.
Non stressful times are a thing of the past. Population growth, improved skills and high-bandwidth low cost connectivity has allowed business to improve their investment return in staff. This forcing more competitiveness into any employee/contractor/knowledge worker. Instead of seeing it as stress, see the emotion as a mechanism to stay focused on your skillset that you can re-sell, instead of trying to create pdf documents for sales, and that does not benefit you're development anyway.
Sorry to say, this is the new normal.

Job was a pre-2000 phenomenon. After that SAP turned into a ‚normal‘ Unfortunate 500 sweat shop like all others. The perfect Job security never returned.
