Thread regarding Williams Cos. layoffs

Open your eyes

Williams should really pay attention to those working in a field office while there manager is located elsewhere. They are supposedly working 9/80's and they are not even working 7 hours a day. Happening mostly in the construction area. Work outs, volunteering and leaving by 2 on most days, working from home on the others. Reward those who do not have good work ethics and get rid of those who do. That's the Williams way!!

That person should invite their spouse along to meet their boss for drinks. I bet they'll get along just fine.

This is the true Williams, residing just below the surface - at all times.

Yes, the construction department leadership does lie, stolen ideas and take credit for awards they didn’t earn. I know for a fact that the hard work in the community was done recognition by another Individual. We all know who really did it, not the leadership, no honor

I disagree with this sentiment! I would like to think that I am a high performer and I'd also like to that I am observant. It is pretty easy for me to see who is working and who is not and get a sense for when people are coming and going. I think it's important to check biases and consider the sampling of observations, but you can derive meaningful data by just looking around when you use the restroom, get water, walk to speak with a colleague, etc. If your head is buried in your phone trying to look busy as you walk or thinking about something else, you can miss some easy clues.

For instance, when I had visibility, based on the setup of the cube environment to another coworker's screen, it was obvious when they were working and when they were not. It just takes a fraction of your mental faculties to make that observation and doesn't really distract from your work until you let the realization sink in that they are getting paid to play on the internet all day.

Here's another example. When you walk by someone sitting at their desk, maybe as you get water or use the restroom, get a sense for how often they are on their phone. If you find that they are always putting their personal phone down or tilting it away most of the times that you walk by, chances are that they are on their personal phone most of the time.

It is not rocket science and does not mean that you are over-analyzing people's habits; you're just observing your environment and those around you. When people are not being fair and honest with their time and effort, it is pretty obvious.

With all that being said, I bet you're easy to pickpocket because you're oblivious to the world around you.
