Chesapeake Energy Corp. CHK-1.68% Chief Executive Robert Lawler got a 51% raise in 2018, as the oil and natural gas company surpassed many of its performance targets his compensation was based on, while investors suffered a 47% drop in the stock. The SPDR Energy Select Sector ETF XLE-0.27% fell 21%

This is classic level 0 leadership, high pay, negative results. At least he hasn’t sold his stock, he is if nothing else, noble.

That's funny, when my boss tried to get me a raise from 40 to 50k because I had been performing higher tasks years now, HR capped me. Said they couldn't raise more than a certain percentage of pay. Wouldn't be fair. Interesting how it's different for executives...
