How many people are left in Hoffman? Are all the buildings (except G, F, and E) still open? When I was let go in April 2019 (after working there 20 years) it seemed like less than 700 associates were left in the whole complex. For those waiting for the end of Sears, be careful, The adjustment to a “real” job is very difficult and does take time. For me it was a rough transition from the laziness of Sears to a normal job. Luckily I built a strong network and kept my skills up to date so was able to find a comparable IT job within a couple of months. It will work out for you if you plan right but be prepared for a culture shock when you move to a company that hasn’t been slowly liquidating for the last ten years.

I like the not having "when is my last day" hanging over my head. And feeling like I am part of something growing, not declining. Not to have to either defend where I work or withstand putting looks has been pretty good too..
Frozen Turkey or $25-30 gift card to local grocery. That's the normal appreciation for
your work efforts. Why am I not surprised HE didn't have that. (I was just a second job
part timer at a FLS....that is STILL OPEN!

There are also some nice shocks, like seeing a 401(k) match, annual bonus, and affordable insurance coverage. Even being given a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving was a culture shock.
