Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Are non-compete agreements enforced between automakers?

I'm just curious. I know many people who say they've switched between Ford and GM or FCA over the years.

Are non-compete agreements common in Michigan and if so, are they usually enforced? If so, I don't see how people have switched employers easily unless they were laid off by each one.

The only issue is that if you give your two week notice you’ll be released immediately if you admit that you’re taking a position with a competitor. And you won’t be paid for those two weeks. When resigning you are not required to give the name of your new employer.

Non-compete agreements do not exist at all. Most engineers would refuse to work for a company that tried to make you sign one as job hopping is the only power employees have these days
