I was let go after 7 years and told it was because of a performance issue. I'm 68 and was literally three months from retirement and lost over $100k in stock. They told me it was because of my performance, but I never ever received a negative performance review, nor ever had any write ups. Just last month my boss told me I was his top guy, now they're telling me the exact opposite. I don't know what I'm going to do. I have nothing.

Get the sand out of your old v—na. You most likely are the old a– 68 year old d–k we all have to work with in the oil field. A "know it all" old fart. Or just lazy as all hell because you are coasting through your golden years collecting a paycheck. Planning to retire in 3 months. Yeah right. Salty old fart cries when they finally let you go for not doing your job! Jeeze, why the hell are you still working at 68 anyway?
I'm 45 and I am retiring at 62, and I'm a lease operator with Concho. They only fire worthless hands like yourselves.
OMG I cannot believe what I am reading. Actually yes I CAN. It just recently happened to me too. Any which way they can don it, they will ! Out of the blue after 7+ years great reviews, I got blasted with a bogus review and placed on the "90-day improvement BOGUS review" - OR ELSE !!!!!! This is something Concho is EXTREMELY famous for doing just to get rid of an employee no matter what their performance actually was during then year! I don't know if it's something the supervisor gets againstn you nor if it's HR dictating who needs to be rid of (AGE). Ridiculous! I never, never, never, didn't do what my assignments were or more with this company, but I was singled out this time and even though I did what was asked of me plus a LOT more..... I was canned !!!!!n I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone who has pride in their work ethics to work at this company. All the reports of such a great company is BOGUS and ALL of the employees agree with this but are AFRAID to speak up about it !!!!! so very sad for what once was a great company to work for years ago under the initial management. Driven into the ground now except for those greedy executives in place reaping astronomically enormous $ at their employees expense.
Chevron wants them to clean all the expensive furnishings out of the house before they take over. Expect January announcement. Why do you think they are making all the data and system changes? And companies like Chevron will boot everyone. They dont want an office here and dont want to move too many of us to Houston.
Report them!! Contact the EEOC and report them for age discrimination. Contact the Midland Reporter Telegram and the HoustuChronicle and tell the energy reporter your story. They are brazen and don’t think anyone will report them so they will continue to discriminate and lie.
Out of that trainwreck myself and also got slapped with a "performance improvement plan" then let go shortly after. Nice place to work.
This is a pattern that has been going on at Concho for quite some time. I've seen a lot of people who were top performers suddenly, with no warning, get blindsided with a slapped together "Focused Improvement Plan" with a lot of made up garbage. They love to dangle those carrots of restricted stock that you probably won't stay long enough to get anyway. I'm glad I'm out of that trainwreck.
