Thread regarding Resideo Technologies layoffs

Can some insider tell me why TCC goes down so often ?

As an IT architect, want to know what could possibly be this unstable, and is there any hope?

I (try to) use TCC API to control humidity in vacant properties via remote thermostat.

It is a little better in past couple months, but was out over an hour yesterday again.

Thank you

Yup!! Certain components stopped and there were issues with queues filling up resulting in customers not being able to control their stats with the wonderful app.

So did it crash with the DST time shift?

nzyr - I almost forgot about that. great example of how they cant write software OR design a platform. Are they still having bridges every DST to watch they system crash? I guess the "Developers" and platform folks are still refusing to fix this. Then again, in the grand scheme of things with this company its just the typical daily outage.

I thought the servers WERE around during Y2K....literally.

I predict an uptick in outages (if possible).....its getting cold and people will start using the garbage app more. Sadly im not kidding.

Daylight savings time is tomorrow! You now what that means? Another TCC outage because the software s—s.

If the servers were around Y2K, they would have crashed and Resideo would have been out of business.

Basically the system can't scale, people that are in charge of it don't know how to fix it, they don't have the resources to fix it, and they try the same thing thinking it will have different results.

Another outage again yesterday. This time for almost 15 hours. Things will get worse as the weather changes. They don't even really know whats causing the outages to increase yet again.

2uej - lol...you are either a company troll or an idi0t. The outages are legendary. go check out facebook or Insta unless they finally wised up and pulled down all the negative comments and people laughing at them.

2eti - you are definitely missing a lot from your log. While it may appear "available" there are huge latency , software and service outages that render this unusable and a sorry excuse for a connected product. Example: 4 hour outage last week and it was not the only outage.

here is my log just for TCC web portal, down 76 mins in Sept, over 67 mins Oct. (to-date), and DAYS in Aug!: https://i.imgur.com/hc4GqiT.png

Hopefully trend will continue to get better, but still, a sad excuse for a Fortune 100 industrial company (attempted) entry in to IoT, supersized they keep Honey*ell brand on hardware.

There is no real architecture anymore all that is left are old crusty dudes that never know what software was (and believed outsourcing was great) and a relatively newcomer dude that talk a good game but beyond book theory of some agile methodology is basically incapable of delivering anything. Seems that promotion works that way: talk a good game , make sh–ty decisions, leave the project and let others trying to fix the leftover (with no funds because the good talker declared victory) one that comes to mind is an American that used to work in France and now is s—ing up closer to Austin ....
Now all the above sound like a recipe for success isn’t it? All those directors should be fired especially the smooth talkers...

ERH0 - We spent many years off-shoring and outsourcing and also never got rid of some very bad leadership and other staff that, over time took us down. We now bring in "talent" who really isn't talented and talks a good game. We confuse using Slack for actually innovating and delivering. We haven't innovated, been cutting edge or created anything anyone really wanted to buy in many, many years. We spent a decade out sourcing and off shoring to save money and you are now seeing the fruit if this folly. We can't design or maintain a platform that scales or is stable, we can't design software that's innovative or stable or that anyone would even want to use. We continue to invest in the wrong areas and cut in the wrong areas. We can't attract true talent and can't reward or keep the truly talented already here. We find our selves 8 to 10 years (being kind here) behind the Google Nest and Amazon Ring type products. For example, You mention TCC....TCC literally is run in a closet about 20 by 10 feet and has no backup...if that closet were to have issues all of the TCC devices would stop working. There is no backup site, there is no regional location for fail over or load balancing. Some really good people (many of whom are now gone and more to soon be gone) have fought to try and secure funding to fix this but apparently this is not important. This is just an example.

I will finish by saying...there is a reason Honeywell dumped (spun) this company....
