Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Health Hub Managers

Who’s out there who has one, is in the process of remodeling, or is on the short list for this quarter?

What have you been told about your position and others in the store?

Does the store manager have to apply through Star Source, interview, and go through background check and d–g?

What happens if they don’t select you? Severance? Transfer?

Please no speculation here or snide remarks. Only truth from those who have or are going through this.

Sounds like age discrimination. They want fresh faces is what i was told. I cut my hours and efforts back. I had been in my store for 10 years and hit the budget every year. CVS has lost a lot of respect from the seasoned managers.

Thank you for the useful answer. So any idea what the criteria was and why they chose to move every manager out of their stores across your district. Did they move managers in from across the region? I know another sour poster said they are looking for a certain image, but let’s be honest, I would think it would be about the history of performance and attitude of the current manager. I’m not talking about average performance. I would think if the manager of the store was a consistent high performing leader they would still be there.

We are going through the remodel. All the hubs in my district got a different manager about a month before remodel. We had to apply on starsource and interview with hub dl and regional and avp helped hand pick leaders. No d–g test or background check because it’s the same title as store manager or rx manager. The managers who were running the stores were transferred to another location.

Wow. I can see I completely wasted my time coming here and expecting a credible answer.

The problem is that Corporate is probably gonna expect 100% absolute perfection out of Health Hub operators. And that will burn people out very quickly.

This is a quote from a google search... (not my words)

"What does it mean by Type A personality?
A temperament characterized by excessive ambition, aggression, competitiveness, drive, impatience, need for control, focus on quantity over quality and unrealistic sense of urgency. It is commonly associated with risk of coronary disease and other stress-related ailments."

So basically cvs wants kiss-ups and control freaks running these health hubs? I know corporate loves "yes" men and women, but still this is crazy...

To comments regarding replacing employees in stores with ones who fit CVS’s image preferences.... This is absolutely true based on my experience of running a model store a few years ago. Can’t obviously give specifics. But we had several high level visits, so they changed out my entire staff, mostly type A personalities that cared about the store and got stuff done, for naturally bubbly brats that cared little about the store and created an environment where myself and Smit had to pick up there slack all the time. I imagine in a hub they’ll replace the manager as well since there’s less basic retail in the store.

I could actually see that happening. It wouldn't surprise me one bit, if cvs had their idea of what a health hub operator should look like. Wrong on soooo many levels, but corporate needs someone who fits their criteria in order to put a good face on the new concept store of the future for cvs.

If they get rid of you it’s due to your image. Never had a bad performance never had bad inventories, NOTHING!!!!! I know managers who ran their stores for over 5 yrs but due to the health hub they got rid of them.

So once a store becomes a hub no title changes? Just bs if you’re not part of their plan? Is this something you are experiencing or just your feeling?

The reason why I ask this is because they have the ability to treat this position much like they did the district leader position. Basically eliminating the store manager position and calling it something different in order to layoff the person running the store that maybe they don’t want in there, but they have no performance issues with them .

They are looking for a certain image! You do not have to apply, you have to do nothing, if the store manager or staff does not have the “LOOK” they are looking for they make your visits miserable and harass you so you either quit or accept to be transferred! It’s Discrimination at its BEST!!!!
