It makes a difference. Eddie is counting on money from "old Sears" to keep "new Sears" (Transformco) in business. He thought that "old Sears" would just fold and go away and he could just take the rest of the money and assets. But now that "old Sears" is fighting back the money is being burned in lawsuits and lawyers and Eddie is not getting as much as he thought. Now Eddie is in trouble and has run out of money.

What did they even try to accomplish with suing old Sears?
That was pretty much a foregone conclusion. Eddie tying up old sears in court burned through tons of money.
This is only for "old" Sears so guess this isn't going to affect "new" Sears, right?
