Thread regarding Fry's Food layoffs

Tuesday the 8th Layoffs

Lay offs will be done Tuesday the 8th through Thursday the 10th. Managers were given a list on the time they are suppose to be at there 15 minute meeting to find out their fate.. sad how the company went about this.

If the layoffs really started today, like @11p8lCdd-1noz claimed they would, I would appreciate if people are affected locations to post some details on what happened. How did these meetings go? How many were let go and how many were spared?...

I have shopped Ralph's, Vons, when I lived in California , great people, great stores. Lived in Reno, Smith's, close to home. My children's 1st work experience and they have done and continue to do great things from that learning experience. Didnt know Kroger rules the world, local, rural, national, cause I knew employees from every state I've lived . Hire me to do your dirty work, did it 18 years ago, my job, but I was never nasty about it. People walked out with options, your choice, this is reality. I didn't, nor did headquarters put me in judge, jury, executioner position. How times have changed. Enjoy that bonus, karma's a bytch

The first round of meetings was held Tuesday. More meetings on Wednesday and Thursday. All individuals have been told to remain silent about their fate, especially in regard to any offered severance pay. I'm being told that Friday will be the day all announcements will be made regarding layoffs, demotions, and store transfers. We are not allowed to name names on this website.

Can anyone say who has been let go? Being with the company so long I've worked with several managers and lost track of most of them.

I have been with this company for 20 years. And watching two of my assistance today walk out the door and not sure if they were coming back was a terrible feeling. Shame on Kroger for hanging this over their heads for the past two weeks. I can only speak for myself but saddened that I do work for a company who treats their people who have given their lives to this company . I would never suggest to anyone to go to work for this company. You’re just a number and they really don’t care about you at all. Pretty sad when you’re praying for everyone that you’ve known for years that they’re able to keep their job. If they want to chop somewhere why don’t they start with the CEO for Kroger. $11.7 million paycheck a year. Ridiculous. Shame on you Kroger

They let our ast. Store manager go today super sad... How do they expect us to just watch as our frys family walks out ths door in tears... This has to be the saddest thing ever to happen... We do have families outside of frys... Blood sweat and tears have been put in these stores, to just be booted out in a 15 minute meeting.. How do these people sleep at night!

Did these people laying off our co-workers, friends, mentors think about how the associates will handle this? A lot of us associates have awesome SM and ASMs. And we felt proud to work for frys. But this may smash our human spirit all together. Like you people are doing to theirs! We can make or break your sorry butts! Remember...we are the ones in DIRECT contact with YOUR money!

Three store managers in the Tucson district have been terminated today, so far. One assistant manager that I'm aware of. I've known all of them for years. A couple of them had 20-30 years with the company but aren't at an age yet when they could retire. Hard to find work at your pay scale when you're in your late fifties. Poof! That's the sound of the spirit being fed.

Layoffs have started. It is sick that your whole career can be over in a 15 minute talk. This definitely isn't putting frys/Kroger in a good light.
