Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Last call for Layoffs??

prediction; if layoffs notice don't happen by October 23 it's not going to happen. The timing only makes sense, any thoughts?

WARN's always come out on Fridays so that would mean the 25th but, I completely get your drift. Get them off the payroll prior to the Christmas shut down and contractual bonuses in January and February. It's coming no matter what. 787 rate reduction hits in January and the 777X service date has slid to the right out into 2021. There is no way to avoid layoffs. Shake up management and dump employees to please the shareholders.

Take your personal items home with you when we leave for the holidays.
When Chapter 13 is filed the plant will be closed for inventory.
Don’t expect to get back in.
The union contract will be null and void
It’s a do over.
This is how Boeing will break the union.
This is how Boeing will avoid the 200 lawsuits for wrongful death
It’s a Win-Win for the company

Well, thatbis a true statement, only because the union are sheep. Those laid off will sit around and collect unemployment and live off the severance. That's the only reason Boeing will do it.

Fantasy World scenario:
Union folks that are laid off take their skills elsewhere and Boeing has no one to call back, the union now has all the cards. They want people back, they have to pay for them to come back and meanwhile the union is able to get all of its members a raise.

But that is pure fantasy. Union folks are sheep and would never do anything that smart.

My guess is for WARN notices to come out 10/18/19.

Boeing saves $ on salaries over Christmas holidays
no payout on contract bonus 1/3/20

and when recalls start back up they have everyone buy the Bal_s for overtime cause they paid out vac and sick when people got laid off. So they have a captive workforce for the next year to get everything back on track.

Just my opinion...

Layoffs By October 23??

From a business prospective:
I don’t see how Boeing continues with business as usual in Renton.
BCA numbers are all in the red and with no clear way forward
for the MAX returning to service, I think it would be bad business not to cut back.

That’s the rub, how do you keep your workforce and save capital?
Will the government backstop Boeing with loan guarantees?
Caught between a rock and a hard spot with rising waters,
Do you hold your breath or cut off your arm to swim to the surface?

No one wants layoffs
No one wants to die in the car crash either

I agree - no one wants to do layoffs over Thanksgiving or Christmas. So Halloween layoffs are out to0 - ) way too spooky).
That zeroes in on Oct 23
