I am a Kroger retiree and no longer shop Kroger stores. All the employees act like they are angry and very unhappy. You can’t give good customer service if you hate your job. I would rather shop at Walmart even though I said I never would. Their employees seem happy and always take you to the product and ask if they can assist in any other way. I can always find an employee in Walmart but I can never find anyone in the Kroger stores. Wake up Kroger before your lack of help and your unhappy employees destroy you.

I worked for Kroger for three years and truly felt the corporation viewed employees as SLAVES and not in any way assets. From scheduling, which is atrocious and shows a lack of regard for employee well being or personal lives, to not listening to any input from ANY employee including managers. Let's face it, Kroger has become just like many corporations that have found the only way left to increase profits for investors is to squeeze everything they can out of employees - requiring extreme workloads, no promotion to full time, degrading, and abusive treatment to keep you feeling unworthy. Their turnover is a joke. Really, you might as well shop at Walmart because they treat employees the same way but at least you'll save money. Walmart is the lesser of two evils.
I’ve been with the company for over 30 years and I have definitely seen a downward spiral of morale however I do not agree with this person that says they would rather shop at Walmart for better service !
