Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Severance!

Our store closed 9/14/2018.

Full timers that were left were offered 8 weeks Severance +vacation pay that was left over.Took us a few to get since we were unaware of the fact that all the correct paperwork was not turned in.

So everyone was alerted and got it turned in.

We received 2 severance payments+vaction.

We unfortunately do not get our last 2 payments due to the fact that sears filed bankruptcy.

This is totally unfair for all of us.

Our years of employment ranged from being there 14 years to 40 + .where is the justice for all of our blood, sweat and tears we poured into the company.

Only to be forgotten about in the end.why do we not have the right to get what we have coming to us.

If anyone knows anything else we could do please let me know.

Just not fair..

Did you not keep up with the news of how the company was doing? Did you not see the warning signs? Did you not experience all of the lies and false promises year after year? Did you really drink the Kool Aid? If you really believed that Eddie and SHC would keep a promise then you were not paying attention. Sorry for your loss of income but if your really think about it you would see the signs.

If your paperwork was turned in to the bancruptcy court on time you are considered a priority unsecured creditor. With the new approval you may get something on the dollar but dont count on it!

In most places, severance is optional. And with the bankruptcy, it will make it even harder to get. We closed in 2016 and got everything. I was so glad to have been done with that collapsing c-apshack.

You should have been very aware of the risks involved in working with this company. You gambled that they would keep their word and you lost. I’m sorry, but you knew or should have known the risks, how many times did people say to move on from this company. Either way it’s a c-appy situation, but there is nothing that can be done.

Nothing to do now. Could have tried to recover thru the bankruptcy court but you are past that. It’s been almost a year and nothing’s been settled. Probably wouldn’t have gotten anything anyway.

Nothing you can do now. You should have received notification that you could file to recover with the bankruptcy court. It’s been a year and there still is no payouts. There may not be any payout even if you filed.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. There are reasons Sears and Kmart are voted each year as one of the worst if not the worst company to work for in America. Use this as a learning experience and good luck in the future. I did and am very happy now.
