Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Loss of $$$$ is in Executives

Restructure is necessary at times. Cutting the “fat” as they say. The top 4 head executives of the companies have no problems doing such at any level other then their own. You say you need to cut staff at lowers levels. Really....maybe take a look at those 4 alone. They should be embarrassed for what they bring in considering the reasoning being for Cutting the staff
You make it more difficult for store level staff member and store management to reach any kind of bonus. You put unrealistic expectations on staff members that literally trickles down to the employees. Which leads to low moral, low customer service and very unhappy and stressed out employees. Did you ever stop and think that those same employees are what generate your ridiculous astronomical bonus and wage? You blame the loss of staff management positions, that you created in the first place, to be to heavy.
Why not restructure from the top? I do not see where the top executives are having their financial means taken away. How about you restructure those bonus platforms and wages. Invest it back into the company to where is actually counts for a better future for your management staff, store employees and ultimately you and the shareholders. Happy employees are what makes money for the shareholders.

When I started with Kroger 5 years ago, I was looking for a position my field, restaurant management. The store had a HR staff member, who took care to hire good people for decent positions. D–g testing is no longer done. No more do we have an in store HR person. The level of employees we attract now, even with higher wages, is appalling. We finally got a decent store manager about 2 years ago. This week, he was let go. All the ASM's are worried to death. We are all aware of what is happening, without so much as a whisper of an explanation from executives. We are also aware that our CEO recieved an obscene compensation increase. They came into higher volume stores and made changes, specifically to the deli area to, in their words, "upgrade the customer experience". What they accomplished was to alienate existing customers by providing food option that they didn't want, and wouldn't purchase. They hire security that is lackluster at best. They couldn't care less, and will avoid any crime being carried out. I've still not come to terms with the fact that they are more interested in throwing a few $$ at employees, all the while trying to bust the union and get their hands on the benefit and pension money accrued by long term hourly employees. I've never seen a company run so shabbily and succeed. My guess, if they can't bust the union, they will begin selling off stores in the next 18-24 months to accomplish this. Sad, but the CEO and a few others will run for the hills with their millions of dollars in guaranteed compensation, and F@&k those employees that, by the way, made it possible for you to do what you are doing.
