Kroger to be Acquired?

Is Kroger going to be acquired soon? What are your thoughts? Is the senior leadership prepping Kroger for a major merger/sell off. Who may be the acquiring party?

Amazon is big enough and I guarantee you will try to buy Kroger or Safeway/Albertsons. Amazon wants to choke out Walmart and to do it they need to buy a bigger chain other then Wholefoods.

While I would think probably not for a couple of years, something has to be going on. Unless corporate are complete id–ts (which may be the case), they seems to be running the company into the ground. My guess would be a private equity group because they like to buy out companies in trouble. Kroger is a little large for most groups, so they would have to reduce the size of the company. Regardless of what happens, the top executives will make a lot of money.

Rumor of Target but that’s been going on for over a year.

I suspect the goal will not be to sell the entire company, just certain less profitable or more troublesome areas. Then Kroger can have a manageable population of stores in key areas, & also compete with Amazon for future internet grocery orders.

Doubt it. Kroger is debt ladened due to previous acquisitions. ID sales are below industry average.

I could see Kroger selling off Individual divisions in the west.

I think it's unlikely, we'd be very expensive to anyone.
