Thread regarding Symantec Corp. layoffs

TUPE

Can anyone explain how the TUPE process affects offers in the UK?

Art seemed to say it means we might not get offers until after close.

I understand it’s some kind of negotiation, but who negotiates on behalf of the employees?

The representatives will be the same employee council that was formed for the move to RIBP. They are already gathering questions and the process should start soon. Unfortunately the site leadership have been pants on communication, as usual :(

The consultation will be with either:
• union representatives: if the employer recognizes an independent trade union in relation
to all or some of the affected employees
• employee representatives: if there is no union representation. In this case there will be an election of
‘employee representatives’, who may then need to be trained before the consultation requirements can begin.
