Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Is it finally over?

Can we finally relax? Or will there be more next week? Does anybody know?

From what I have heard in Houston this week we’re store managers. Houston lost 22 store managers. Next week will be co managers and after that they’re going after department heads and red circle people. Glad I’m moving on to bigger and better opportunities somewhere else.

Kroger has showed it's true colors with this second round of job cuts, again just before the holiday's. It would be unwise for any one to think their future is secure at Kroger. Although my DM treats me great. The "off with their heads management style is beyond their control. I've been an ASM for 2 years im still at my same store. I'm looking for new opportunities as I do not see a secure future with Kroger.

I'm an assistant Dept head overnight which means for two to three shifts per week I'm the most senior manager in the store for 8 hours. And I make $10 an hour.

Kroger is not worth it...

Most of this could have been avoided if Visa had not been banned.

Yes - It looks like from their statement and what I know on the inside - Kroger is going back to what actually "worked"... Getting away from the bloated overssight and micro managing store managers and letting them use their time better..at the store level..

The SM position is going to be much more important, much less micro managed by DM's and coordinators and much more sought after. But.. getting back to the place Kroger needs to go will not be without more possible losses..

I have heard after holidays their will be another cut, leaving the stores with one director and one assistant like it use to be.

That makes complete sense! rolls eyes Especially since it is so difficult to keep stores staffed...people don’t want to work part time. Can I tell you how much overtime I worked this past 2 months?? It’s a lot!!

After the holidays is round two. Gossip is cutting Dept. Managers. No longer 45 guarantee hours a week. Cut down to 32 hours a week which Kroger considers full time.
