Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

More to come

This is happening in Colorado as well, store managers have meetings this week, and asm's have meetings next week.

It makes you wonder if there's a merger coming or the company is going to sell.

At least our area has been top-heavy with management and low on employees, but it doesn't look like they're getting offers for another position.

The rumor as it stands 10 store managers have been let go.

And possibly more to come :-(

The company isn't prepping for a merger or sale, they're just trying to keep up with industry trends. Walmart laid off a bunch of their co-managers last year, and bumped the rest down to assistants.

This is all very sad. Kroger doesn’t have the long term vision to realize the impact this will have on the stores. Here at Ralph’s everything changed after the UFCW strike of 2003-2004. There was a palpable change in the morale of the associates and everything started to go downhill over the years. This will only reignite that feeling of betrayal and ensure that the companies “Core Values” are mocked again. Kroger is gonna have to replace all the propaganda posters in the stores regarding “Core Values” and “Uplift” cause those will be vandalized within days.
