Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

I have been with this company for 26 years and can tell you they don't care about you or your family. It's a shame.

They think about the almighty dollar and the shareholders more than peoples lives that are being affected by this. Were is a white 62 year old man trying to make it to retirement making good money find a job that pays good and benefits too. Five weeks vacation that I have worked hard for. Wife has serious health problems. WTF.

I’m straight, I’m white, I’m male, I’m over 55. And more than 35 yrs with the company. My career advancement opportunities are dead in the water.

I have to agree that the man needs to take further action(legal). Been working at Kroger 20+years & they could care less about you; your financial hardships; your health; or your family. 1 co-worker passed out, mngr was called & when he got there he offered no help nor would he call 911. So, I’m not surprised by what k-roger does, complaining doesn’t do any good, a “ suit” is only that gets their attention.

I know they practice age discrimination. I cornered our store director (one whom I still respect) after they chose an inexperienced truck driver for a department manager position I had interviewed for. I had 10 years experience general managing a medium sized business directly relayed to the position. I asked him directly if it was my age (58 at thr time). His response was a blank stare. If he said yes the company was in trouble. If he said no he knew he was lying. No reply gave me the answer.

If you are 62 and have 26 years of service with Krogers and you are let go, react as calmly as possible (it'll be tough to do) and be dignified when walked out. THEN immediately find an experienced human resource lawyer and file an age discrimination suit!

26 years apparently doesn't mean squat to Kroger. We lost a manager with 43 years with the company. Sad that he was reduced to a clipboard and check lists over the last year or so, only to be dumped on by multi millionaires who have no courage to stand with the people that get them results. Feed the human spirit my a–! Associates will be the ones who suffer reduced hours and depleted talent.
