Thread regarding Fred Meyer layoffs

Kroger lay-off

This is not surprising. I worked there for 2 decades as a manager and when they added the middle tier of management the consensus from my peers was that they would be the first to be fired when the company couldn’t make money anymore. We were right?! Wow. The writing was there in the wall when they restructured the branding and it was cheap and horrible, uninspired and boring. They cut hours and expected high level execution from associates that were paid little and treated like c-ap for not being able to achieve the expectation. Fred Meyer associates in Oregon were paid less than fast food workers. The all mighty dollar is the Kroger way. Feeding the human spirit, indeed.

I am sad to see Fred Meyer so natively affected by Kroger co. I worked for Fred Meyer for 40 years. When Kroger started making changes in how the company operates we were no longer the great company created by Fred G. Meyer. The CEO of Kroger and his team needs to step back and take a look at the mess that are making. also take a look at the lives of the associates employed and unemployed do to there mess. Sad thing is all this has no effect on there pocket book so I don't believe they care. I agree companys have to change to stay in business but Kroger has not made responsible changes to Fred Meyer in the past and now the store associates are paying the price. Way to feed the human spirit. Maybe the CEO and his team of upper management should take a decrease in pay to make the company more profitable. Clean up your mess with out hurting the good people at at store level that work so diligently for you.
