Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Age

Odd that no one in our district below 40 was let go. Only senior managers. Most of them great people. Think about the missed birthdays, missed dinners, late nights, on call, long commutes, working holidays....these managers have given their all and their loyalty for a company that has not given their loyalty back. Sad. A very sad week in Kroger land.

In our district we have some managers above 40 who were not laid off - but told they were doing a great job and what the company is looking for. We also have some ASM's above 40-50-60 who are still here so far.

That is EXACTLY what I said just today when 3 mature managers/ASMs were let go at my store but the much younger of them all remained

You don’t get it. These older managers are the ones that are not implementing the changes Kroger is trying to make. Pushing back against the technology. It’s not that they are old but that they are set in their ways. Im 62 myself but have kept up with technology and embrace change. But the bigger thing is they are letting store managers go NOW. They are not done just getting started. ASMs tend to be younger. They will be in the next wave. The Age will even out. Lots more in the coming weeks. They are not laying off hundreds it will be thousands. And as much as people are saying these are good managers kroger has obviously decided they are not the ones to lead the company forward if they are to compete with the likes of Amazon.

I’ve noticed that as well. I get so much misinformation from the managers who haven’t been with kroger long and then they let go the most knowledge and helpful people it is really sad.
