I would like to see Kroger and Fred Meyer executives put on an island with nothing but a loin cloth and no food. Time to take away the golden parachutes.

I don't think I've seen anyone under 40 lose their job. I lost my store manager this week who had been with the company for 37 years as well as my operations ASM who had been with the company for a long time. Neither one saw it coming and have families to support. Both were great company employees. It makes me sad!

Fred Meyer hired armed security guards to escort those "layed off" like they were criminals. You put in 20, 25, 30 years working horrible hours and holidays and this is how you're treated?

I was laid off from Fred Meyer Corporate (Kroger) several years ago. My whole division was outsourced. I had worked for the company for 21 years. I have seen this company piece by piece be destroyed by the corporate machine that is known as Kroger. Fred Meyer without Kroger was an innovated business model that worked well for the west coast communities it is located in. The technologies that they forced Fred Meyer to implement were archaic. The paper pushing, clipboard carrying, micro-managing chokehold of the Kroger business model does not fit Fred Meyer. A family member who is still an employee, is watching many co-workers get "the call" and waiting in fear "who will get the next call. "Am I next?" Lives being devastated. I will say in hindsight, being laid-off from Fred Meyer was terrifying, but in the end it was the best thing that happened to me. Today's Fred Meyer is a terrible place to work. I'm saying prayers for everyone that is affected.

Is it really a surprise? The Kroger company and its affiliates have been long known as a horrible place to work. It is a blessing in disguise....the company is performing horrible and will continue to go down as they want all stores to look the same across the USA. They take the individuality out of all of their divisions.

It's really odd that only older people were laid off?

Do you know anyone under 40 that got cut?

Just curious...

My dad was laid off today. Over 20 years with the company. Discarded.
