I bet they are trying to force department managers to be co managers too. Why else would they give clerks and co managers a raise and skip department heads? They also are not allowed to step down. It's either quit, stay where you are, or move up. They will get new comanagers they can pay less.

Oh golly, where to begin?
So, meat clerk, 8 years in the company. Only female in the department. Actually, nevermind.
So we’ve gone through six meat cutters in two years. We’ve replaced our seafood manager three times, meat lead twice. I’m the only employee left of our original team at this store. Makes me feel like I could be the main problem. Aside from the fact that the current dept. head is always counting on me. Our OSAT is abysmally low from past meat cutters pissing off customers. That and... rarely do we even have a cutter at night. Our last cutter was a self described p—hile/rapist/sick f—. Always felt terribly uncomfortable around him. Especially with all of the s-xual harrassment claims that just got ignored by management. It’s still bothering me that they only did something when he said sh– to a customer.
More fun, drastically cut hours. I don’t mind it myself but, my co-workers do. I’m fairly weaker than I used to be due to injuries never recovering properly and a few auto-immune illnesses that hit me out of nowhere. More time-off helps. What I can’t stand is that corporate has called us spoiled brats in conference calls. Having a cutter during a huge ad is us being spoiled. What the hell?
Our co-director is always pushing me and the guy I’m closing with every night to do even more since our openers/mids are lazy. It’s always our fault that they run behind. Always our fault something is OOS. Sh–, she even tells us all we do is stand around doing nothing all night. Starting to think she’s just clinically insane.
Our store is in the red sadly.. by-product of a huge competitor beating us in most aspects. Most of our departments keep dropping in profit but, Meat has been going up. Meat is our division focus I believe. Soo they’re attacking us nonstop lately. Corporate visits everyday, corporate members talking sh– to us and berating us. Non-existant morale. Safety problems are being ignored like crazy as well. Our flat cart has had two snapped legs for a year because the same a–hole meat cutter decided to throw it against the cooler wall until it broke. He broke our wrapping machine multiple times as well. He would even stuff worn out saw blades into meat coats.
I feel like I lost whatever point this all had to it...
Our corporate leadership is destroying this store and it’s employees to save money and save face. There’s so much chaos and sh– being flung around that everyone who did care is gone or will be gone shortly.
tl;dr: I must be hella insane to care about anyone in my store. It’s a sh–show. Too many problems and no one wants to solve them.
Do I stay and hope it gets better or do I transfer and put it behind me?

That makes sense. Last January they brought back the manager on duty role where the use dept heads as closing store managers. It's been a nightmare in my store because all but one dept goes to hell after 5 pm.
