Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Mid-Atlantic Division Layoffs

Mid-Atlantic division began mass layoffs yesterday.

I cannot describe how heavy my heart was while watching good people learn their fate with the company.

It was everything I could do to stay at work through the day..

I had a Co Mgr.

crying on my shoulder at one point because she had just started with the company and has several children to support as a single mother, and in a moment's notice she realized she had no job.

My heart broke for her.

Today I have a knot in my stomach as I go from store to store seeing the look of confusion and broken spirits everywhere I turn..

I worked for Kroger for 26 years and never thought that I would see friends with 30+ years terminated! Not the company that's core values are OUR PEOPLE ARE GREAT!

It amazes me Kroger would do this. I worked for Kroger for ten years. This was about fifteen years ago around the time Kroger started cutting hours. It was always do more with less..It affected customer service as there's only so much you can do with less people. I've noticed it's a lot worse now in the stores. Customer service is nothing like it used to be. It appears they are going to make it even worse.
