Got the boot today.Seven years of loyal service and hard work just went down the drain, and to tell you the truth, I feel like it was all for nothing.
I get that most of the people on this board are people that are still working here and are trying to get layoff related-info, but I was hoping to get some advice on where would it be the smartest place to start looking for a new job. Any ideas?

I know some who are 45+ (Even 60s) in management who were not let go. It's a combination of factors - since the focus is on cutting the bloated over-sight and processes and finding the right store managers who Kroger believers can actually run the stores without all that over-sight/help. I feel terrible for those who are now without a job.. I hope all find work soon..
I actually found something related to grocery that isn't grocery and I think it is going to be a good fit for me. The hiring manager was really excited to speakto me. I don't know if they are hiring everywhere, but people should look into ROUTE SALES REPRESENTATIVE for FRITO-LAY. Good starting pay (and they're upfront about it). The website is http://www.fritolayemployment.com
I left a Kroger management position after being caught in a favortism/bus throwing scenario and took a postion in a bank. I was lucky enough to find a management position that didnt require bank experience and Ive been able to learn that area as I went. They valued my customer service and management background, which is hard to teach. Find a position where those skills shine! Good luck, I am sorry this happened to you.
If you want to start a new career be your own boss and make 6 figures a year driving class A trucks and get your CDL for free I'm a 17 year former Kroger Employee couldnt be happier go to prime inc.com
Walmart.
Just advising on Target. Working for them, in some instances is just as bad as working for any retailer ( it’s very difficult everywhere). they do have a work/personal life balance..... they could also care less about how their hourly workers are treated or run into the ground. Things are difficult for them now too.... they have too much competition with Amazon. Just a suggestion.... get out of retail if you can.
From what I know they have laid off/fired mostly older employees it is sickening! I wish this country protected employees and some stores are even union....what good have they done for all the money they have collected?? I am in NM and these past 2 days they have fired management and demoted a bunch of them too, not sure when they are getting to the rest yet. Like i said most employees that were fired / laid off were older some even more than 20 years of service. Maybe it is time for someone to look into this ageism within this company, they rarely even promote anyone older than 40. I feel so sad for everyone ....where do you start again in your 50's and 60's? How many people are suffering right now because of this? Kroger makes a fortune and could have easily kept these employee;s or even offered alternative jobs, if they have worked over 20 years they cannot be that bad at their job right?
Actually a good place to apply is Target. I got out of the Kroger Management Grinder about 6 months ago, so far it is a whole world better and they actually care about your work life balance.
Go to their biggest competitor, Amazon!!!
Sad part is they worked their way up with this company as well.. this is incredibly heart breaking
Try Publix where shopping is a pleasure. You will have to work your way up but it’s a start.
