Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Management Training

What I don't understand is how they are laying off all these managers while all year long they have been putting people through the Management Training program in the Atlanta Division. Let's hire all these new ASM's who have no clue how to run a store and then what? How are these new managers that haven't even been given a chance to show their potential being treated in all this? It's hard to make an informed decision on someone's job when the person doesn't even know their job themselves. If they keep all the new ASM's it just looks like a big play to get rid of all the higher paid managers and keep the new ones who make nothing for the jobs they do. I don't know how this will help their big plan for better ran stores. It's a shame. Get ready for 6-7 day work weeks, even c-appier store conditions, and a huge decrease in employee morale. Good job Kroger. You guys are the real MVP's. Not.

The big complaint in my division is that there aren't enough comanagers, several big stores (like Marketplaces) are running without one or two managers. Now with this, it looks like management won't have any life at all unless they get a lot of comanagers trained fast. Or they rely more on MICs, which are already ridiculously overdone.

Kroger goes through hiring events and when they hire new people they don't give them hours and then they quit! They do worse than Walmart.

6 or 7 day weeks are already here for the workers

My old department manager was supposed to start training to be a co-manager back in the spring, but they pushed it off to January now so he can "get more experience". I'm pretty sure they're just stringing him and all the other dept managers along. Work the existing Cos to death, and use department managers as MODs to fill in the gaps.

Because they are cheaper and no accrued vacation. Bottom Line, it's the Bottom Line
