Thread regarding Symantec Corp. layoffs

After effects of Broadcom acquisition

Bluecoat is going through the consequences from Symantec’s dumbest mistakes! Symantec literally dragged Bluecoat down. Thanks to the greedy Bluecoat management, especially Greg Clark!

Thank god! Broadcom is breaking Symantec apart. Symantec deserves this for their mistakes.

Symantec support is now terrible, they've removed their web chat and lost most of their good engineers. Their newly acquired BlueCoat product is in dire need of support but they lack the ability to do so now. Stay away from this company for a while, I expect them to be dethroned as market leaders in security very soon.

Mike Fey did not approve LGBTQ.

The story behind Fey’s exit above is incorrect; it has nothing to do with the deal and everything to do with morality, ethics and character.

And Greg Clark owns his own jet - SYMC paid $1m+ p/yr to lease it from him.

These threads are comedic, at best. Everyone has an opinion and their own facts. Won’t disagree that Greg/Fey were the straw breaking the camel’s back but stop pandering about in rumor when you know you have no actual insight beyond the hearsay.

so connecting the dots…

no Mike Fey = no whistleblower occurrence = no 30% market selloff = no Starboard takeover = no Rick Hill = no Broadcom

Mike Fey cleared $49.1 million in SYMC stock

What was the whistleblower situation about?

Mike was fired because he couldn't handle himself during a customer meeting, thinking he was king above everyone else, domanding the order was booked immediately to save the quarter. Customer didn't want to book so Fey ztarted shouting like the mad man he is. Greg had to take immediate action to "mutually agree" on Mike leaving. That's that.

While this shows some initiative to go all the way for results (from both ends), it also shows that Mike was not fit to run a 20k employee company and Greg simply didn't have the charisma nor integrity to do so efficiently either. Now add that dirtbag of a CFO at that time who didn't even know Symantec is competing with Microsoft before he announced the stocks to go up to $50 within a year of acquisition... This toxic trio have ruined Symantec and likewise BlueCoat and Watchful Software and SkyCure and FireGlass and many other companies who were acquired. These three came from BlueCoat and brought their culture from BlueCoat with them.

The people who ruined Symantec sit on the board and are profiting the most of all. They have played ping pong with strategies and k–led off CEOs whenever they saw it didn't go anywhere. It is down to them that Symantec was in a position where they needed and new CEO, it was them constructing the acquisition of BlueCoat and again them putting the Toxic Trio in place.

I don't think Ex BCs should shout about how Symantec ruined BC. It was the BC Management AND culture (these things have happened at BC before but any mismanagement did not need to be disclosed because BC wasn't publicly trading) together with the board who ruined all these companies altogether.

I don't even blame Hock Tan. From all these factors he seems to be the least concern on a business level, actually being able to make tough decisions and put some profitability back into the products.

Will they be the same great products from the cyber security leader? Maybe not. Will they have all the bells and whistles customers on all levels are asking for? No.
But if we're honest - this sh– doesn't currently work either. It's bland at best! Microsoft can throw money at a product segment and jump from a niche player to the best in GMQ. With them starting the hardware game it's not going to be long before they out-develop other product lines.

This acquisition is probably the best outcome considering all the stuff that has happened. You WILL find a new job and you WILL move on. And things will be better for everyone.

Mike Fey was barely with Symantec and left with twenty some mil.
Greg Clark took air plane rides on the corporate jet but nobody knows what he was doing up there,
probably riding around in circles going "wee wee wee" all the way somewhere...…..
Get real people.

LoL what? Your statement completely contradicts itself. From my 12 years of experience in middle management and business critical roles, I can tell you that the Bluecoat cronies are the downfall of Symantec. What do you think the whistle blower situation was about a year ago?
