Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Core values? Empty words.

Kroger likes to promote the "core values" of honesty, integrity, respect, safety, inclusion, and diversity. Honesty, integrity, and respect? This week has proven what I've known since they started with this idea, leadership in Kroger does not have integrity or respect, and have proven they are dishonest. A few of the managers I know that have been fired needed to be fired, but most did not. All but one that I know of had worked for Kroger for a minimum of 20 years, most had been in management for 20+ years. One of whom was supposed to retire next year! Everyone I know that works for Kroger has said the same thing, it's tense and uncomfortable in their stores this week, they're all in shock over what's happening. Comanagers are nervous, afraid they're going to be fired soon.

I am one who has to be at a meeting tomorrow and I am scared, the suddenness of everything and how we were told had my stomach turning inside out, since I know most are signing nda, I have no idea but I have a colleague going in prior and after me and I don’t even know what to think, blessing to stay? Doubtful after how this will trickle in stores morale, or be apart of the ones let go.

18 CoManagers, 3 Store Leaders and 1 Coordinator were all let go yesterday. It breaks my heart for the Coordinator who was set to retire next year. Feeding the human spirit? I THINK NOT. RVA lost some good team members.
