Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Management Layoffs are Happening at Kroger (October 2019)

All Kroger folks with upper mgmt titles were told at the same time that they might not have their job next week, they know it…

They will inform the managers that are being downgraded and demoted, and they will tell it to the ones who are being laid off from Kroger on Friday.

At this point, nobody is safe – period. This is both good and bad. We’ll lose some bad managers which is desperately needed but some good managers will be affected too. That’s bad for Kroger, Kroger’s customers and employees alike.

I was told that decisions were made by Kroger and not by the individual company. 25+ years of giving everything that I had to be let go with no explanation...SMMFNH

Regarding the meetings. All the managers called for a meeting today, were let go. Most of us never received a call at all, up to this point. DMs say they are going to meet with all of us, yet everyone called has been laid off.

I really want to go on a rant here but I will not. After all sacrifice, 20 years to blood, sweat and tears I was let go today. There is no loyalty in corporate America, “we’ll retire you here” has no meaning, it’s all fake. Millennials are right, take care of yourself only, and to do not trust anyone. It’s sad. Kroger is ungrateful and they do not deserve us….

It totally makes no sense to remove staff at the store level, this is considering most stores are always desperate for staff, especially in the department head and manager level staff.

All of our departments here except for FE have either no department head or no department co head

  • Executives want to get the best of the best back into stores
  • For the longest time if you were good you wanted to be a coordinator. You got to be out of the stores and travel around!
  • The idea is to make the store manager position that people want again
  • I don’t see it working but it’ll make people step up their game

They said no ASM changes until after holidays so the co’s should be pretty stationary

Apparently all the managers and comanagers are getting a evaluation starting tomorrow and there are either moving managers and co mangers around or letting them go and offing buyouts

every time HEB opens a store right across from a big kroger, it k–ls the store like overnight. not only does 1/3 of the staff immediately quit and go to HEB sales drop like crazy.

going down coordinators, merged all the perishables into one coordinator for example. The conference calls with merchandisers on Friday and email are supposed to be helping pick up for direction in the department Dillons division district 2
