Thread regarding Fry's Electronics layoffs

Fry’s Renton

Went in yesterday. The place is literally about 1/3 empty / bare shelves. Blank wall where motherboards used to be. Skeleton crew about 10% of what they used have. I asked a sales associate twice about date they were closing. He stared at me blankly and said I am here to answer questions if you want to buy something. I asked again and he gave the same canned answer. I asked another if they “gave them a date yet” and he said they haven’t told us anything. This person was clearly distraught. The clincher? No person the exit checking receipts.

It feels like there are only days left, and with the end of the fiscal year for many companies on Sept 30, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were closed on October 1st.

I was just there a week and a half ago, and the only things that seem to be in stock are extra parts that no one needs or wants and a bunch of garbage on clearance. Yep, they're definitely on their last leg, it seems that with everyone relying on online mailorder, as well as their terrible customer service, Fry's is spiraling down the drain. Hopefully there will still be a brick and mortar store around in the future for the people that prefer to do their business in person, only thing is that it'll never be as big as Fry's was.

One employee told me that they would be closing but did not know when. I was shocked to see they were out of most everything. I think Amazon is k–ling this retailer.
