"A BITTER row has erupted between two former friends over the Ocado grocery delivery business, threatening to embroil some of UK retail's biggest names. At the heart of the clash stands Jonathan Faiman, one of three former Goldman Sachs bankers who launched Ocado 20 years ago.
The idea for a new business that would compete with his former company came to Faiman, he says, after he was granted a tour of Ocado's Andover UK warehouse. False names were used when entering HQ and Faiman requested meetings 'should take place in rooms without windows,'
Ocado alleges Faiman had through various means 'obtained confidential financial and operational data about the Ocado business' and had also been in communication with a number of Ocado staff to help him build his new business, one of whom has already admitted that he disclosed confidential documents to Faiman, in breach of his contract.
The lawsuit also says Faiman had in his possession company documents that would help him design automated distribution centres similar to Ocado. During a court ordered sting to obtain evidence, including these documents, Faiman's driver 'was observed placing two cases belonging to Mr Faiman into his car and driving away'.
Charges in the lawsuit include corporate espionage, intellectual property theft and conspiracy. This lawsuit follows several others settled earlier this year by Faiman alleging fraud associated with their investments in neos an oil exploration firm
