Once upon a time store credit cards were friendly and had no late fees. If you accidentally missed your pay date hey no problem they were happy to get the interest fees. People get upset with late fees and want to pay the card off especially if it is a store credit card. If they have good enough credit they will get a loan or 0 balance card and pay it off an close it out. The rewards are on all credit cards not just the store credit cards and there are too many offers and credit cards wanting the business.
People and their greed lose customers and money because they cannot see the future and the bottom line. The first time a store card charged me a late fee I closed it out after years of having it (JC Penney) and I will never have another one again. I can use my mastercards or visa's at pennys and I believe they have to pay a portion to the Master Card or Visa as a service fee. Who lost in the long run?
