Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

Do your job just enough to keep it

Actions speak louder than words. The company has proven they are not sugar coating anything, and they treating us like we are disposable employees. Unfortunately, We still need the money to pay bills for the moment.
We are told we are not comparable to Disney or Universal and will never be when it comes to pay and benefits. The company is comparing the park to a Six Flags. Six flags is not know for their customer service. They are known for a cheap thrill ride park. We should not be focusing on customer service and run like a cheap thrill park.

1) Don't go above and beyond and just do the job you were hired for and nothing more.
2) Don't worry about our customer service. Six Flags does not use it as major metric of measurement. Just do enough for the guest not to get mad and to move along.
3) When you see areas that need improvement in the park, its not your job to fix it. Let the salaried people take care of it. They don't pay you for your ideas.
4) If you have no labor to do the job, then work all the OT without permission you want. They don't give us staff do to the job correctly. They now must pay for not giving us tools to succeed.
5) Give your salaried leaders the minimal respect needed just enough to work with them. Their actions prove they don't want to work with us, they are expecting us to quit.

WE HEARD REPEATEDLY FORM HR , OUR PARK PRESIDENT AND OUR PARK VP'S. WE ARE NOT DISNEY OR UNIVERSAL. Stop thinking we are and lower your standards as the company as lowered theirs.

As a former employee of 11 years I can tell you that the company I started with is not the one I left. Starting with quity and care of all employees and guests and animals. Ending with a nickle and dime attitude of how they can make a multitude of promises to workers that they never had a intention of fulfilling. This all changed when they went public and the mentality changed to a "what have you done for me this quarter" attitude. No planning, no desire to get better at what we do, no caring remained when the hedge fund guys forced out the last of the old guard that cared about guest experience. I genuinely cared about the company, the people and what they stood for. That erodes over time, and unfortunately it will be the demise of the company as they fall into mediocrity, becoming nothing more that a six flags with dolphins. I feel bad for those that remain, and really hope they can survive this and find a way out in the near future

I’ve consulted an attorney already about starting a union. You cannot get fired for doing it and as a matter of fact. you’re even more protected after that.
I’m sure that for those who got terminated, the company came up with some lame excuse and perhaps not anything that would hold up in court.

It’s really ripe for a labor union to step in. The last group of guys who tried to bring them in, all got fired including their director who was completely uninvolved with the attempt. It’s time for the employees to stand up and fight back. Corporate greed is out of control and calloused to people’s needs. It’s all about the bottom line. This way of doing business will find its way to the leveling of this company.

Would you rather they sugar coat it be rahrah and say everything is fine? I know some Fry's employees who are like that even though the stores have been empty for more than half a year.

Does anyone see the quality of people HR is hiring? I am part of training and with the quality of people who are getting passed through, we do not have the time or labor or train and coach before they reach the park. I let them pass through and hope they get termed by their leadership. I use to care, but HR continues to hire anyone who walks in.

I am lead and I sit in the stadium and watch my shows. I don't talk to my supervisors, or my managers.I get paid to skate by as long as all is done. I don't know why all my peers did not see this coming. I DO NOT FEEL BAD AT ALL.
