Thread regarding Sears layoffs

A Humble Prediction

So this is how I see things playing out:

  1. Another round (or two) of closings with plenty of one-off closings in-between. All FLS Sears and Kmarts closed. Timing: 9-12 months.
  1. All remaining inventory cleared out thru SHOS (guess why they bought them?). 16-24 months.
  1. After the main store inventory is cleared, SHOS’s are starved of inventory and franchisees start closing (and suing!) All SHOS’s close. 24-60 months.
  1. All distributions centers sold. 48-60 months.
  1. All remaining IP sold. Up to 72 months.
  1. All lawsuits complete. Approximately 2032 (give or take 5 years).

They don't own the distribution centers. the IP is near worthless as sales implode.

Eddie ain't waiting till 2032 to collect on his 'investment'... I think this will all be wrapped by December 2020.

I say it will be over in February when they announce the rest will close.

I think it is more dire than that. Hope I at least get my next paycheck.

At the rate the franchisees are bailing along with the vendor and cash-flow issues any go-forward SHOS plan might not live past the holidays. That's a big reason the Kenmore and Diehard brands are being shopped around. All previous business development has stopped, including the Home & Life support team and pretty much anything beyond running a generic barebones showroom because Transform can't afford the rebranding, hours, training, marketing, or advertising. Total liquidation is on the table.

Yup with the latest round of closings, summer 2020 is the end for all. The remaining stores are spread across the country like a shotgun blast from 100 yards. There is no way they can maintain cost effective inventory delivery or even management like that. the remaining stores will get inventory surges after these close and then will basically starve to death until their last breath which will not be long. 250mil does not last long.

The time table for complete shut down will be much faster- 6 months.
