Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Offshore increase in hiring

Overheard a leader say that we are hiring 300 ppl in India via an intern program.. I’m speculating, but I’m guessing 300 in DFW will be going away soon...

As always it depends. My teams in Krk seem waaay more productive than the ones in Dfw. Probably there are depts where this is inverted.
Lets keep being innovative and productive instead of whining...

speak for yourself.
I measure that productivity extremely closely. My BLR team is insanely unproductive. My dfw team is where all my productivity comes from.

Let's be honest, those 8,000 hours in reality end up taking 48,000 hours due to timezone differences, gaps in requirements, wheel spinning when not given very explicit "scripted" directions to follow. Not to mention the rework that has to take place for numerous escaped defects. Make no mistake, you get what you pay for. Designer jeans at Dillards or Dollar Tree jeans fabricated in malaysia by slave labor?

Every year has brought huge cuts in budgets and next year will be no different. Product keeps cutting and so now we have like 8,000 hours to do 12,000 hours of work and if we hire that in BLR, KRK, MVD, etc., we can maybe swing it. When we hire in USA that same work will cost the whole 12,000 maybe more. So yes sadly this is recognized as an effective strategy and it's only going to accelerate. USA devs, our days are very numbered, sorry to say.

Really Dilly? You can get laid anytime? Doesn’t sound like bad HR to me!

Sabre has developed a poor reputation for US workers as well. People know that despite the talk, they are completely disposable if they are US based. Sabre talks a good game if people staying to retirement, when the truth is you’ll be off-shored before you get 10 years in.

@11LD2tdE-fxp The PTO change only applies to voluntary separations. Your concerns are misplaced.

150 interns are already offered in India and many more positions are going to Bangalore. Lots of top level positions like VP, Director and Manager are all getting moved to Bangalore. Jaya from Bangalore was hired to do this and he is getting more positions in Bangalore.

But in Bangalore Sabre is not such a good place to work because of the bad HR group and leader they have. No one wants to join Sabre so some not so good ppl working in companies like Infosys or Wipro get paid good hikes like 50% and join Sabre, not ppl from Microsoft or Facebook - they donot care about Sabre.

Sabre is a known CAREER DESTROYER. You can get laid anytime and now the PTO not getting paid policy is testimony to it.
